The Northern Indiana Human Resource Conference (NIHRA) was held on May 15th at the Fort Wayne campus of Indiana University-Purdue University.
Tom Ackmann, Managing Director of Baden Retirement Plan Services, presented "Proactive Approach to 401(k) Fiduciary Responsibility". The presentation provided guidance for human resource professionals responsible for administering their companies' qualified defined contribution plans. Ackmann highlighted that plan administers are legally personally liable for certain aspects of administering the plan. Liability can take the form of penalty fees imposed by the Department of Labor.
